Klein High School Recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community
Klein High School has received a special honor for its efforts in enhancing student success, being named a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) School.
This recognition is thanks to the school's effective use of Solution Tree’s PLC at Work™ strategies, which have been pivotal in boosting student performance.
Model PLCs are some of the highest-performing schools around the globe. PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students.
“I am incredibly proud that Klein High School has been named a Solution Tree, Model PLC at Work campus,” Klein High Principal Brandon Baker said. “It speaks to the tireless dedication and commitment of our staff as well as the academic success of our students.”
In a PLC-focused school, the emphasis is on personalized learning. The educators outline a detailed plan to ensure every student gets the best education possible. They keep a close watch on students’ progress, offer additional support when needed, and provide advanced learning opportunities for those who excel.
Klein High made a targeted shift from a teaching organization to a learning organization by creating the systems and expectations necessary for data-informed collaborative teams to meet and make targeted instructional decisions as a collective PLC.
“The continued success of the staff and students at Klein High School and their commitment to continuous learning is to be celebrated,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “This recognition is well deserved and a true testament to the daily hard work and dedication everyone at Klein High puts forth. Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!”
Earning this recognition isn't easy. Schools must show dedication to PLC methods for at least three years and prove that these methods have led to better student outcomes.
Klein High has an enrollment of over 3,000 students and is the only high school with an enrollment that large to receive this recognition since 2017, according to records on allthingsplc.info. They are in good company as Krimmel Intermediate also earned this esteemed recognition during the 2020-2021 school year.
Congratulations, Klein High, for continuing the tradition of excellence within the Klein ISD!
