Just a reminder that all cell phones and electronic devices are prohibited during testing.
Phones are not to be out even after a student finishes their test.

A student possessing a cell phone or any communication device that has text messaging, email, video or internet capabilities while taking STAAR or any other state assessment must turn off the device before receiving any test materials. The student’s test may not be scored if the student had possession of a test booklet or answer document while the device was visible to the teacher. The teacher observing the student in the possession of the device must be confiscated and report the offense to the campus testing coordinator.

STAAR Testing
In spring 2012, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The STAAR program includes annual assessments for grades 3–8 in reading and mathematics; assessments in writing at grades 4 and 7; in science at grades 5 and 8; and in social studies at grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History.

Use SKYWARD To Access Your STAAR EOC Scores (Not Yet Available)
Use these instructions to access your student's STAAR EOC scores via Skyward.

2016-2017 STAAR EOC Dates
March 28, 2017 - English I
March 30, 2017 - English II
May 1-5, 2017 - Algebra, Biology, and U.S. History

This is for students who are retesting only, meaning that the student has taken EOC before and were either not successful or absent. We are also offering initial testing to Seniors ONLY, who are taking an EOC course, such as US History, so they can have an additional opportunity to test in the spring, if needed. Your student will be notified this week if they owe an EOC exam, and a letter will be mailed home as well.

Students who owe both Algebra and US History will test Algebra on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and US History on Thursday, Dec. 8. Students who owe both English II and Biology, will test English II on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Biology on Thursday, Dec. 8. Students who owe all 5 exams will test one each day, Monday – Friday. Please contact your student’s grade level counselor if you have any questions or concerns.

EOC retesting will occur on the following dates.

June 19, 2017 - English I  (retesters and students finishing the course at semester)
June 20th, 2017 - Algebra and US History (retesters and students finishing the course at semester)

The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)
The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) assessments are designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade level. Texas state law mandates that students must pass the English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies sections of the Exit Level TAKS by the end of their twelfth grade year in order to receive their diplomas.

Out of School Testers
For the October 2015 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) exit level tests, TAKS out-of-school (OOS) examinees (including former TAAS and TEAMS examinees) must register online at Registration opens December 12, 2016, and ends February 10, 2017, at 5:00 PM (CT). Examinees who do not register by the deadline, must report to Klein Collins High School. The campus will attempt to accommodate them. If Klein Collins is not a convenient location, a list of participating campuses can be found at

The October TAKS exit level tests will be administered as follows:

  • March 6, 2017 (English language arts)
  • March 7, 2017 (mathematics)
  • March 8, 2017 (science)
  • March 9, 2017 (social studies)

Because the TAAS tests are no longer being administered, former TAAS examinees (including former TEAMS examinees) will take the TAKS exit level mathematics and/or appropriate part of the English language arts test(s). TAKS scores will be matched to the appropriate TAAS passing standard.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive at the test site 30 minutes before the designated testing time. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a drivers license, DPS ID, military ID, school ID, or resident alien card to test. Examinees will not be allowed to take the test(s) without a picture ID.

If you have any questions about TAKS OOS registration, call Pearson's Austin Operations Center at 800-627-0225 between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM (CT) Monday–Friday.
